The fastest and least expensive way to get the dissertation(s) you would like to order is to submit your order online with a credit card via our secure interface. Dissertations ordered online are available in unbound shrink-wrapped format only. Delivery by courier mail should be within three to five business days. Delivery to PO boxes will ship priority mail, please allow extra time for arrival. Graduate works published prior to 1997 may take a few extra days to deliver. Delivery time to Canada may vary depending on customs.
Fax/Mail Form to UMI
If you need a format other than unbound shrink-wrapped, or if you would rather pay by check, money order, or credit card (offline), you can still use this convenient online interface to select the dissertation(s) you wish to purchase. Upon checkout, you will be able to print out a form ready to be faxed or sent to UMI for processing.
Search Instructions
The fastest way to identify and validate a dissertation is to enter the last seven characters of the UMI order number. If you don't have this, enter a word or phrase into the search terms field or the author's last name and the first four words of the dissertation title.Search terms - Enter a word or phrase related to the dissertation. Use "quotation marks" to search for exact phrases.
Order Number - Enter the last seven characters of the UMI order number. (Example: for citation DA9412718, you should enter "9412718")
Author - Enter the author's last name or the author's last name, first name. (Examples: "Smith" or "Smith, Jane")
Title - There's no need to enter the entire title. Usually, the first four or five words will be sufficient to identify the dissertation.
A word about cookies.

Upon selecting "Download Report", your browser should ask you what you'd like to do with the downloaded data. Select "Save File..." then choose a folder and filename for the raw data file.
The data file you download is ready to be opened by applications that can open and convert comma-delimited data files, such as Microsoft Excel.
